A Journey to Remember: Praxis, WPRF, and Fulcrum Awards

The week I had eagerly awaited finally arrived, bringing with it a series of first-time experiences. My familiar Mumbai streets faded into the distance as I boarded a plane bound for Chennai, a city I had never explored before. The purpose behind this journey? It was to partake in the 10th edition of Praxis, a prestigious event hosted at the opulent ITC Grand Chola. Little did I anticipate that this adventure would etch itself into my memory from the very moment I set foot in Chennai.

As volunteers for the event, our journey commenced with a unique task – packing hundreds of bags, a prelude to the eventful days that lay ahead. Our roles continued to evolve throughout the event, keeping us engaged in a range of responsibilities. Among the many memorable moments was our initiation of a flash mob, a lively dance performance that rekindled the audience's spirits, particularly after their lunch breaks.

Yet our responsibilities extended beyond dance routines and bag-packing. Networking with PR professionals was an integral part of our assignment, a goal to connect with industry experts and glean valuable insights. It provided an opportunity to broaden our knowledge base and establish connections that could significantly benefit our burgeoning careers.

Praxis, unveiled over the course of three days, was nothing short of a grand spectacle. More than 600 delegates, all fervently devoted to the realm of public relations, had convened for this remarkable event. I had the privilege of being one of 14 students entrusted with the honor of volunteering. It marked my first encounter with an event of such magnitude, and the exhilaration was palpable. Yet Praxis held more surprises in store.

Scholarships for which we had applied during our regular classes were to be awarded during Praxis. The moment of truth arrived, and to my immense delight, we secured not one but three scholarships, further enhancing our journey. Praxis also featured global nominations, placing our campus, SCoRe, in the spotlight. The revelation that a fellow student from our class had secured an award was nothing short of astonishing. Our journey was unquestionably transforming into a treasure trove of experiences and accomplishments.

As the days unfolded, I found myself attending keynote sessions, networking with industry luminaries, and gaining profound insights into the subtleties of public relations. The event underscored the paramount importance of punctuality and demonstrated the art of managing a sprawling three-day event with impeccable precision. As we bid farewell to Chennai, we carried with us a legacy of memories and knowledge. It was an experience that had undergone a profound transformation, leaving an indelible mark. Most importantly, it impressed upon me the idea that learning is an ongoing process, and I was resolved to continue exploring and advancing.

One particular moment stands out from this remarkable journey. In a gesture of gratitude, we decided to gift a box of chocolates along with a heartfelt note to the hotel staff, a small yet meaningful way of expressing our appreciation for their hospitality and support.

In hindsight, my expedition to Praxis, WPRF, and the Fulcrum Awards was more than just attending an event; it was a transformative odyssey. It left me with memories to cherish and knowledge to treasure. As I gaze into the future, I am acutely aware that this was merely the commencement of my extraordinary voyage through the captivating universe of public relations.
