As I entered MSL, a part of the Publicis Groupe on my first day at work like any other fresh heel thinking about what new beginnings lay ahead for me in this new year. The busy Monorail Station packed with enthusiastic people waiting for the tickets set the mood for that day. Fellow classmates, fellow members of diverse teams and I managed to get into the tall office building where an HR representative took us around our respective units and desks.
Anticipation filled the air as I waited for details about what would be my tasks. I was shocked to learn that my client would be from the automotive sector. “It shook me a little but I accepted the challenge.” I was given the responsibility of researching the industry and keeping myself abreast with recent news by my Senior Manager. Day 1 ended for the day with a few initial assignments.Day 2 opened with the familiar Monorail Station moment, but a different kind of energy permeated that day. There was a certain atmosphere, the gleam of enthusiasm and hope in their eyes that made me smile. On entering the office, a fellow colleague introduced me to everyone on the team. Day 2 was different – a new angle, an invigorated thrill.
I am learning during this journey that judgment is the key to your reality. On the second day, there was a sense of fresh hope that suggests our aspirations and inspirations play key roles in shaping work dynamics. It concerns dealing with adversity by focusing on the bright side of things, come what may.
Overall, my intern diaries highlight the power of each day as a transformative opportunity especially Day 2 which embodies hope. Just like life, the corporate world is about change and learning to appreciate it along the way. As interns, let us take the lessons of optimism, and toughness and believe that every day should be an opportunity for crafting our professional story further.
